Ball Size: 3
Teams: 4 players on the field per team.
Substitutions: Either team may substitute at any stoppage in play. No substitutions during running play.
Game length: (4) 10 minute quarters. 2 minute break between quarters; 5 minute at half.
Free Kicks: All kicks (goal kicks, kick-offs, kick-ins, corner kicks, fouls and injury restarts) into play are INDIRECT KICKS. Opponents must be 5 yards from the ball. Kick-offs will alternate at quarters by team. Kick-offs must go forward towards the kicking teams’ offensive goal.
Ball out of play: A ball that crosses completely over the sidelines (in the air or on the ground) will result in a kick-in and taken at the point where the ball crossed the line. Goal kicks (when the ball is kicked out of bounds by the defending team at the goal they are defending) will be made 1 yard outside the penalty zone circle in front of each goal.
Goal Defending: No goalkeeping is allowed. Coaches are encouraged to keep their players from drifting back into a purely defensive position on the field when their team is attacking the opponents goal. If in the opinion of a coach the other team is failing to abide by this rule, they should contact a NYSA Board member and bring it to their attention.
Penalty Zone Violation: Players may not enter the penalty zone circle in front of the goals at any time. A goal scored from a kick within the penalty zone circle will not be allowed. An offensive player that plays the ball from outside the circle but whose momentum carries them into the circle will not be penalized. Coaches are encouraged to warn players not to cut across the circle during play.
Fouls and Restarts: All fouls will result in an indirect kick from the point where the foul occurred.
Injuries: If an injury occurs and play is stopped, play will be restarted by a drop ball at the point where the ball was when play was stopped. If the ball last touched by the offensive player stops rolling while it is inside the penalty zone, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. If the ball last touched by the defensive team stops rolling while it is inside the penalty zone, a corner kick will be awarded to the offensive team.
